Farmington hosts Walled Lake Western at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, in a matchup of 2-1 teams separated by a 25-point scoring gap.

The Warriors are averaging 35.67 points per game this season, according to Prep Redzone. Farmington is averaging 10 points per game. The statistical gap is wide despite identical records.

Walled Lake Western, ranked No. 72 in Michigan and No. 11 in Division 2 by MaxPreps, opened the year with a 35-31 win over River Rouge on Aug. 27 and demolished Franklin 58-7 on Sept. 3 before falling to South Lyon 35-14 on Sept. 10. That Franklin result looms large: the same Patriots squad beat Farmington 31-13 on Saturday, Sept. 12.

The Falcons, ranked No. 195 in Michigan and No. 38 in Division 1, started strong with a 32-7 win over Huron on Aug. 27 and a 28-7 victory over Walled Lake Northern on Sept. 3. Farmington then allowed 31 points to Franklin after giving up a combined 14 in its first two games.

History adds another layer. Patch's AM newsletter framed the matchup by asking whether Farmington can "finally flip the script" against a Warriors program that has dominated the series, though specific all-time records were not available.

First-year head coach Kason Dickerson, hired March 6 to replace Jason Albrecht, brings familiarity with the opponent. Dickerson told Hometown Life on March 12 that he has coached some Walled Lake Western players through the Sound Mind Sound Body camp. Before taking his first head coaching job, Dickerson helped West Bloomfield win the 2020 Division 1 state title and assisted Orchard Lake St. Mary's during back-to-back Division 2 championships.

"They do have wins. They're not oblivious to winning. They're accustomed to winning," Dickerson said of the Falcons program in his March introductory interview with Hometown Life. "I just think they need to get over that hump, get over that edge."

The Falcons' best weapon may be senior defensive end Myles Smith. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound Indiana commit was named one of MLive's 25 defensive stars to watch entering 2026 after recording 43 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and six sacks as a junior.

He also forced four fumbles.

Smith will need to contain Warriors senior quarterback David Krall, who is averaging 104 rushing yards per game through three weeks. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Friday at FHS Main Stadium. Farmington's next game after that is at home against Stevenson on Sept. 25.
