South Lyon East beat North Farmington 35-34 on Thursday, Sept. 10, in a non-conference game at North Farmington High School in Farmington Hills.

The one-point road win for the Cougars ended the Raiders' early-season momentum. North Farmington had opened with a 54-26 victory over Lakeland on Sept. 3 before falling by the slimmest margin to South Lyon East in Week 3. North Farmington rallied for 14 points in the fourth quarter but came up one point short. The loss dropped the Raiders to 2-1, while South Lyon East improved to 3-0.

The Detroit Free Press listed the final score among Thursday's Week 3 results across Michigan. Other area scores that night included South Lyon 35, Walled Lake Western 14 and Milford 53, Walled Lake Northern 14.

South Lyon East competes in the Lakes Valley Conference. North Farmington plays in the OAA Blue, making the matchup a non-conference contest, according to MaxPreps.

Running back R. Jones led North Farmington with 85 yards on 13 carries, and Logan Murphy added two catches for 56 yards. South Lyon East's K. Fox completed 1 of 6 passes for 34 yards and a touchdown, B. Frazier ran for 56 yards, and A. Holmes caught a touchdown among his 64 receiving yards, according to MaxPreps.

The Raiders' roster features senior defensive lineman Gabriel Jankowski, a Wayne State commit, and senior receiver Jamir Rentie among the returning upperclassmen.

South Lyon East's lineup included senior Chase Hamilton, a Northern Michigan University commit at linebacker and tight end, and senior Carter Yurkunas at defensive back and running back.

North Farmington's Week 4 opponent had not been posted as of Friday, Sept. 11.
