The Farmington Hills Zoning Board of Appeals will hear four zoning cases on Tuesday, Oct. 13. Cases include a hotel seeking a third wall sign and a county golf course trying to keep an existing fence.
The board meets at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall, 31555 W. Eleven Mile Road, according to the meeting agenda.
Hotel wants a third wall sign
The Fairfield Inn & Suites at 27777 Stansbury Blvd. is asking for a special exception to add a third wall sign on the west side of the building. City code allows signs on only two façades. The applicant, sign company Intercity Neon, wants to add signage to the west-facing wall on property owned by Antonio Jarbo.
Oversized garage on Stockton Drive
Keith and Beth Steslicki of 30179 Stockton want to build a 528-square-foot detached garage in their rear yard. Combined with an existing 300-square-foot accessory structure, the total would reach 828 square feet. That is 78 square feet over the 750-square-foot maximum.
John Cialone of Italy American Construction filed the application.
St. Fabian Parish seeks fence variance
St. Fabian Catholic Church and School at 32200 W. Twelve Mile Road wants to install a 5-foot-high chain link fence in its front yard, 7 feet from the road right-of-way. The zoning code requires a 35-foot setback in that district. Michael Hall of RCI Contracting Services is the applicant.
Glen Oaks Golf Course fence already up
Oakland County Parks and Recreation is asking the board to let it keep a 6-foot-high, black-vinyl-coated chain link fence at Glen Oaks Golf Course, 30500 W. 13 Mile Road. The fence sits in the front and exterior side yard.
On the 13 Mile Road side, it is 0 feet from the road right-of-way, 40 feet closer than code allows. On the Greening Road side, it sits 5 feet from the right-of-way, 35 feet short of the required setback. Mark Adams Jr. of Oakland County Parks and Recreation filed the application.
The board is also set to consider approving minutes from its Sept. 8 meeting. Residents who need accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) should contact the City Clerk's Office at 248-871-2410 at least two business days before the meeting.
Questions about the agenda can be directed to Charmaine Kettler-Schmult, director of planning and community development, at 248-871-2543.
