Farmington Public Schools families who haven't completed annual online registration are up against hard deadlines.

The district confirmed on X Monday, August 3, that registration is open for all new and returning students, and children's fall schedules won't be released until it's done.

The deadlines are tight. Families with students in pre-K through 8th grade must finish by Sunday, August 16. Families at Farmington High School and North Farmington High School have until Wednesday, August 19. The first day of school is Monday, August 24.

That gives K-8 households 13 days from the August 3 opening to get it done.

How to register

Parents complete registration through MiStar ParentConnection, the same portal used to check grades and attendance during the school year. The district posted full instructions on its website.

The requirement applies to every student across all 16 Farmington Public Schools buildings, whether they're new to the district or returning. The district has not specified what happens if a family misses the deadline beyond stating that schedules will not be released until registration is complete.

What's different from the July announcement

As we reported July 22, the district announced the August 3 opening date and the schedule-withholding policy weeks ago. The difference now: the portal is live and deadlines are active.

Farmington Public Schools, which serves roughly 9,110 students in Farmington and Farmington Hills, first flagged the registration timeline on June 2 and posted a reminder graphic on July 14.

The next key dates: August 16 for K-8 registration, August 19 for high school registration, and August 24 for the first day of classes.
