Farmington-area residents don't need to be members of Congregation B'nai Moshe to hear internationally recognized Cantor Andrés Levy perform this fall. The West Bloomfield synagogue, located on Drake Road near the Farmington Hills border, is opening two events to the broader community as part of its High Holiday season.
The first is a Musical Shabbat Service and Welcome Celebration on Friday, Sept. 4, at 5 p.m., followed by a community dinner. The second is a free concert titled "The Music of Our People" on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 2 p.m. Both take place at B'nai Moshe, 6800 Drake Road.
Levy, an Argentina-based cantor who has led services and performed concerts across Latin America and the United States, is returning to B'nai Moshe to lead High Holiday services as well as Sukkot and Simchat Torah observances. He has performed at synagogues in Florida, Texas, California and North Carolina.
Everyone is welcome.
Executive director Steve Fine described Levy's return as a reunion the entire congregation has eagerly awaited, according to an announcement in The Jewish News. Fine noted that non-members are invited to attend High Holiday services and both public events.
