Farmington Hills families can roast marshmallows, paint pumpkins and catch marshmallows falling from the sky Tuesday, Oct. 6, at Heritage Park.

The city's annual Hay Day runs from 5 to 8 p.m. at Heritage Park, 24725 Farmington Road, between Ten Mile and Eleven Mile roads. Admission is free. This year, the Farmington Hills Special Services Department is folding its Marshmallow Fly & Fry into the Hay Day lineup, according to the event listing on Oakland County Moms. The marshmallow drop and cookout previously took place in August as a standalone event.

The Fly & Fry features timed marshmallow drops by age group: children 5 and under go at 6 p.m., ages 6 to 8 at 6:20 p.m. and ages 9 and up at 6:40 p.m.

Beyond the drop, Hay Day offers what the city bills as the area's largest campfire, along with hayrides, pumpkin painting at $5 per pumpkin, hot dog roasting, marshmallow roasting, fall foliage hikes, Nature Center visits and tours of a Farmington Hills Fire Department engine. Hayrides require a separate fee and can be booked through pre-registration. Pumpkins and apples are also available for purchase.

LittleGuide Detroit named Hay Day a top family pick for the week. Residents with questions can call the Special Services Department at 248-477-1135 or 248-536-5617.
