Farmington High's Myles Smith earned a spot on Prep Redzone's 2027 Preseason First Team All-State defense at the EDGE position, the recruiting site announced Aug. 19.

He is the only Farmington-area player on the first team.

Smith, a 6-foot-5, 230-pound senior and Indiana commit, was named alongside Recarder Kitchen of Muskegon, Dawoud Issa of Saline and Asher Newman of Haslett as the four first-team edge rushers in the state heading into the 2026 season.

The honor caps a rapid recruiting rise for the four-star prospect. A year ago, Smith was picking up his first Power Four offers during Farmington's OAA-Blue championship run. By late October 2025, Hometown Life reporter Brandon Folsom noted that "Myles Smith's stock keeps climbing," as the then-junior added Purdue and Kansas to an offer list that already included seven schools.

Smith committed to Indiana on May 28, choosing the Hoosiers over Michigan, Missouri, Kentucky and Oklahoma. The Detroit Free Press rated him the No. 7 player in Michigan, the No. 23 edge nationally and the No. 246 overall prospect in the 2027 class. He plans to enroll early in Bloomington.

Prep Redzone's updated August rankings slot Smith 11th among all 2027 Michigan prospects regardless of position.

His junior season gave Farmington fans plenty to remember. In a 42-19 win over Birmingham Seaholm on Sept. 26, 2025, Smith recorded three tackles for loss, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Hometown Life's Folsom described the performance in vivid terms: Smith "wrapped up Seaholm's Casey Goetz so violently for a 3-yard loss that Falcons coaches gasped and winced watching the takedown."

A week later against Troy, Smith posted four tackles for loss, a sack, two forced fumbles and a touchdown reception in a 42-0 rout. Farmington finished 7-2 overall and won the OAA-Blue outright at 6-0 under head coach Jason Albrecht.

Smith is a senior now. He and the Falcons will debut in the Lakes Valley Conference the week of Aug. 25 after Farmington and North Farmington moved from the Oakland Activities Association, according to the Detroit News. Livonia Churchill, Stevenson and Franklin round out the new league opponents.
