The Farmington Community Library Board of Trustees meets Thursday, Aug. 13, at 6 p.m. at the Farmington Hills branch, with a revised giving policy and a proposal to create a library foundation expected to come before trustees based on discussion at the board's last regular meeting.
Residents can attend in person at 32737 W. 12 Mile Rd. in Farmington Hills or join via Zoom. Public comment periods are scheduled at both the beginning and end of the meeting.
No formal agenda has been posted.
Board President E. McClellan signaled the foundation idea at the board's July 9 meeting, telling trustees during the finance subcommittee update that he planned to bring a revised giving policy for review in August and "will introduce the idea of creating a foundation." McClellan also said at that meeting he wanted to discuss naming-rights donation opportunities with the Facilities Committee.
The foundation discussion comes as the library moves forward on a major construction project. At a special meeting July 15, the board voted 6-0 to approve a Phase One construction bid package covering remodeling work at both the Farmington Hills and Farmington branches. McCarthy & Smith is serving as construction manager on the project at a cost of $472,951.
The meeting notice states only that the board will "consider any issues that may come before the Library Board." No formal agenda had been posted to the library's website as of Tuesday, Aug. 11, so the expected items are based on McClellan's July 9 remarks, not a confirmed schedule.
