Farmington Hills Mercy heads into its Division 2 regional Wednesday with Catholic League individual champion Megan Guerrera leading the way after she shot a 1-under 70 to win the CHSL title Sept. 28.

Guerrera finished first overall at the CHSL Bishop Tournament to claim the Catholic League individual title, Mercy's athletics department announced Sept. 29. The championship was held Sept. 28 at Flint Golf Club, according to Mercy's 2026 schedule. The MHSAA's daily roundup also recognized her as the tournament medalist.

Guerrera wasn't the only Marlin to post a strong finish. Carolyn Watson, a freshman, shot a 77 to place sixth overall. Mercy put two golfers in the top 10 at the league championship.

The Marlins finished third in the team standings, just three strokes behind the second-place finisher.

Guerrera's 70 was eight strokes better than her round at the Oakland County Division 1 championship on Sept. 23. At that meet, she shot a 78 while Watson led Mercy with a 75, tying for the top individual score, according to the Oakland Press. Clarkston won the county title with a team score of 341. Mercy and Rochester Adams tied for second at 343.

The CHSL victory came as Mercy prepared for the MHSAA postseason. Mercy entered the postseason ranked No. 2 in MHSAA Division 2 girls golf, behind Forest Hills Central, according to Michigan Interscholastic Golf Coaches Association rankings released Sept. 29.

Mercy's golf program has won five MHSAA state championships: 1999, 2001, 2022, 2023 and 2024. MHSAA records confirm that Mercy won three consecutive Lower Peninsula titles from 2022 through 2024.

Mercy is scheduled to compete in its MHSAA Division 2 regional at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Farmington Hills Golf Club. The Division 2 Lower Peninsula Finals for qualifying teams and individuals are scheduled for Oct. 16-17 at Forest Akers West Golf Course at Michigan State University.
