The Farmington Farmers and Artisans Market wraps its 2026 season Nov. 7, with 10 Saturdays still on the calendar for shoppers looking to stock up on local produce and handmade goods.

The market runs 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday at the Walter E. Sundquist Pavilion, 33113 Grand River Ave. at Grove Street in downtown Farmington. An estimated 3,000 to 4,000 visitors pass through each week, according to prior Farmington Focus reporting.

More than 40 vendors sell fresh Michigan produce, vegetables, herbs, cut flowers, specialty foods, locally butchered meats, fresh fish, artisanal breads, honey and handcrafted goods, according to VendorsMap. The 2026 vendor lineup was not posted on the market's website as of Aug. 30, but a May 2024 Metromode article listed more than 50 farmers, makers and artisans at that year's opening day, including Gass Centennial Farm, Taurus Trading Co. and Lekker Choco Treats.

The market has won "Best Farmers Market in Metro Detroit" in WDIV-TV's Vote 4 the Best contest for at least seven consecutive years through 2023, according to that May 2024 article. Whether the streak continued in 2024 or 2025 could not be confirmed.

Live music plays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Saturday. Master gardeners answer questions on site, and a Kids Highlight Calendar lists family-friendly activities throughout the season.

The pavilion itself dates to 2005, funded by a donation from Walter E. Sundquist, owner of Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home. Riley Park, which surrounds the structure, was named for George F. Riley, whose foundation paid for the park's construction.

Jess Westendorf, who became the Farmington Downtown Development Authority's executive director in June 2025, called the market one of the reasons her family chose the city. She said in a statement announcing her new role that public spaces and small businesses "are what make a downtown truly thrive" and are "where people come together, make memories, and feel connected to their community."

The DDA earned recognition as a 2025 Great American Main Street Award semifinalist, one of eight organizations nationally honored by Main Street America for downtown revitalization work.

Beyond the weekly market, Riley Park hosts Rhythmz in Riley Park and Swing Farmington events. The Harvest Moon Celebration returns later in the fall, though a 2026 date had not been announced as of Aug. 30. Check the Downtown Farmington website for updates.
